Ma Ling Jiao Village has existed for hundreds of years…houses built little by little from an arid ground…steep cliffs…Ravines in remote mountains…the Village is just like the one with ancient trees painted in “Traveling amid Mountains and Streams”…Ye in the name of Ye Ma Ridge means wild in Chinese, the sense of Ye/wild comes from the contrast of north desolate landscape in the south of the Yangtze River…Perhaps, an proper attitude to historical heritages is to use reversible design to allow later generations see the vein of times, just like ancient pottery restoration…Incomplete parts after splicing and bonding need to be repaired with a principle of fewer but better, and gypsum would be adopted to repair with a purpose to allow clear distinction between the repaired defect and the original device…and maybe designers could be more free and enjoyed.
